Beatrice Public Library
Beatrice, Nebraska
The Beatrice Public Library is located on the site of a former mansion near downtown. The Library’s design reflects the traditional architecture of the city and the neighborhoods which are adjacent to the site. The building also was designed to allow many large specimen trees to remain. The library interior is characterized by large, warm reading rooms. Wood beams, roof decking, and oak furniture help provide a comfortable atmosphere. Large windows direct views to the neighborhoods beyond. The main floor of the Library contains the stacks, reference areas, work areas, an archive room, and two meeting rooms which are available for use during non-library hours. Design concepts were developed to finish the basement area for additional meeting rooms and conference rooms.
