The Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries’ (NLOM) goal of providing modern and inviting meeting facilities for their church members and affiliated guests is being realized through a series of new construction and renovation projects identified in a complete Campus Master Plan developed by BVH. The Master Plan included a new retreat center, new bunkhouses, an activity center, equine center, addition to the dining hall, renovation and additions to many existing support buildings, and several landscape related projects including new signage and way finding systems.
In Phase I, a major goal of NLOM was to provide a large retreat center to hold training and team-building meetings. The 33,000 SF Swanson Retreat Center accommodates both religious and non-religious groups for meetings and lodging space in a campus setting. The design captures the feeling of a rustic farmhouse and features multiple decks and patios for outdoor gatherings, a 2-story lobby with exposed wood ceiling, 30 guest rooms, an intimate Chapel for religious gatherings, and an “Old Farmhouse” design with inviting front porch.
