Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film
Lincoln, NE
BVH renovated the historic 1900's Temple building, which houses the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The original scene shop was converted to a state-of-the-art "Black Box" Studio Theatre. This new theatre has flexible seating, upper level control rooms and the ability to house live performances or be used as a recording studio. A new scene shop was created to pre-build sets up to 20 feet high. New remote, computer controlled rigging was installed on the Howell Theater stage and a new side stage was also added to give the Howell Stage a true stage left to work from. Other additions/renovations include a new theater class-lab, a CAD lab and accessible restrooms. The project was brought in considerably under budget, allowing the School a long overdue renovation of the lobby space to pay tribute to a major contributor and new namesake for the School.
