Madeline Island Music Camp

BVH Architects provided design services for a central lodge, dining and a 50-unit housing facility in the environs of the Apostle Island National Lakeshore. The project consisted of sustainable design features including raised platform structures and board walks for minimum site disruption, preservation of an existing wetlands, and minimal forest removal.
Materials specified include a predominance of natural woods, local stone, and timbers, all for low maintenance and beneficial life cycle cost. The building designs are reflective of the 19th Century historic summer homes on the island.
