Red Cloud Opera House
Red Cloud, Nebraska
BVH Architects, developed a preservation plan and study to determine the feasibility of restoring the historic 1885 Red Cloud, Nebraska, Opera House for the Willa Cather Foundation.
The plan identified the building’s important historical elements, the existing conditions, evaluated structural, mechanical, and electrical systems; and contained recommendations for reuse of the first level as a museum and offices for the Willa Cather Foundation. All planned items have been completed. The upper floor, originally an opera house in which Willa Cather delivered her valedictory address, has been faithfully restored as a community performing arts space.
