Superior City Auditorium Renovation and Addition Study
Superior, Nebraska
The Superior Auditorium, located in the National Register “Downtown Historic District” of Superior, Nebraska, is a WPA project built in 1936. The Art Deco building has served the community in various functions from the time it was completed until 1997, when it was closed. Over the years, the building provided space for city offices, gymnasium and performance space, as well as a large gathering space for various community fairs and exhibitions.
BVH recently completed a study of this building to determine the feasibility of renovating the existing structure for a performance hall and of constructing an addition for a multi-purpose/exhibition hall. The BVH team evaluated the condition of the existing building, assessed mechanical and electrical upgrades necessary to utilize the building, and analyzed its potential use as a performance hall. This study included acoustical, accessibility, and code requirements as well as cost considerations. The project is currently in the funding phase and will be implemented soon.
